Sunday, February 6 ATTN: A&E/Lifestyle Editors "REINDEER'S SWEET 16
TOP FIVE BANDS..." ***** for immediate release ***** After four intense
afternoons of awesome young talent, five finalists were named in Reindeer's
SWEET 16 Rock-Off competition, held the past two weekends at Portland's
McAuley Performing Arts Center. The event drew over 700 people from all
corners of the state to come out and support their favorite local bands.

The five bands with the highest overall scores, compiled by various panels of
evaluators in several categories, include (IN ALPHA ORDER): BARIUM/Poland
Regional HS, JEREMIAH FREED/York HS, JIVING MISS DAZY/Medomak
Valley HS, RANSOM/Cheverus HS and THE TAXIS/Deering HS.

 A total of 24 bands took to the stage in four all-ages showcases, displaying a great
array of music from punk to ska, death metal to hardcore, alternative to fusion.
Each band was rated by different panels on their live performance, original
material and marketability.

"It's a bittersweet moment to have to announce the top five," said Louis Philippe,
Rock-Off producer and president of Reindeer Group, Inc., the event sponsors.
"When you add up the numbers and configure all the percentages, it's amazing how
close the results can get. Being a process-oriented competition, we feel all 24
bands are victorious for the accomplishments and growth they've already shown,
and we certainly want to encourage all of them to continue their pursuit of a music
career. The immense media exposure, networking and marketing opportunities all
the bands have received should give everyone some powerful ammunition to keep
going."

"We're thrilled to have had the caliber of talent we had in this year's Rock-Off,"
Philippe said, "and the top five bands deserve this top-notch recognition for their
incredible talent and efforts."

The Rock-Off Finals are slated for Sunday, March 5th, at 1 PM, again at McAuley
Performing Arts Center in Lewiston. The winner of that round will be named "Best
Young Band in the state of Maine," and receive $1,000. The show will again be
